“If the answer to the question "why are we doing it this way?" happens to be "I don't know, that's just the way we've always done it" ..... then right there in front of you is an opportunity for innovation.”

Glen Berry

Glen Berry is a fourth generation Idahoan, and a descendent of working-class British Isle and German immigrants.  His mother, Marlene, was an art educator, and taught Glen how to draw and paint at an early age.  Glen grew up in Idaho, Utah, and New York.  His first job in an Architect’s office was with FFKR Architects in Salt Lake City, Utah, working as a design intern on the Eccles/Howard Hughes Medical Institute Genetics Research Building at the University of Utah.

From 1988 to 2000 Glen worked for RFD, Stichler Design Group, Jacobs, and HOK before starting Design for Science, a lab design consulting practice.  Design for Science was founded in response to a request from many architects for a lab planning consultant who was willing to share their experience and knowledge but allow the architects and engineers to do the construction documents.  For twenty years, from 2000 to 2019, Glen provided independent lab design and consulting services to architects worldwide.

From 2018 to 2025 Glen worked as a Lab Architect with HERA Lab Planners in St. Louis and Gensler in San Francisco.

In August of 2025 Glen started Design for Science II and returned to independent lab design consulting to Architects worldwide.

Design for Science is a Limited Liability Company (LLC) registered in the state of Idaho, USA.
